We’re excited to officially launch Re.Frame, Re.Climate’s new blog!
Our aim is to provide the latest insights from new polling and social science research and what is emerging from the field in terms of narrative, engagement and activation best practices.
These are not easy times for communicating about climate change and building support for strong climate leaders, policies, and programs. Rising polarization, misinformation, and a fundamental lack of literacy about the cause of climate change and effective solutions make it harder to build common ground and momentum. That’s why we are committed to providing innovative and practical guidance and inspiration via the Re.Frame blog.
We are committed to providing innovative and practical guidance and inspiration
In some cases, we will introduce new initiatives, as with this post, where we are excited to announce the new Commons Sense podcast, researched and produced by Re.Climate’s Co-Academic Director, Dr. Barbara Leckie, and her partner and colleague, Dr. Joel Westheimer. This podcast series explores the need for collective action to address climate change, what the public commons means today, and the ways in which the idea of “common sense” is used to shape social norms and drive political agendas. Commons Sense will examine how ideas of what is commonly understood and meant to be socially acceptable and beneficial can get in the way of climate action and what can be done to overcome barriers. We hope you will enjoy it and welcome your feedback. You can find the latest episodes at the Commons Sense podcast website.
In other blog posts, we will take on tough issues via evidence-based editorials, interviews with researchers and practitioners, and case studies of what’s working or not working on the ground. Some posts will have highlights of insights from Re.Climate’s webinars and reports. Other posts will feature lessons learned from the close to 5,000 people who have joined Re.Climate’s list and are tuning into webinars and other offerings.
This is where you come in. Please let us know if there are topics you want us to cover in the blog or if you have ideas for a guest editorial.
We will cover new research, effective communication and engagement for civil society organizations and governments and emerging challenges and trends. We will not shy away from what is most challenging to communicate about and engage people in, such as transitioning away from oil and gas and communicating about climate change as wildfires rage on.
Feel free to reach out to us (editor@reclimate.ca) with feedback and ideas for future blog posts. I’ll be acting as editor of and contributor to Re.Frame while relying on you and my Re.Climate colleagues to be contributors as well.
Here’s to raising awareness and activating the majority of Canadians to support and be part of climate solutions!!
